Runtime errors are Battle Realms errors that occur during "runtime". Runtime is pretty self-explanatory; it means that these EXE errors are triggered when instmsiw.exe is attempted to be loaded either when Battle Realms is starting up, or in some cases already running. Runtime errors are the most common form of EXE error you will encounter using Battle Realms.
In most cases, instmsiw.exe runtime errors occurring while the program is running will result in the program terminating abnormally. Most of these instmsiw.exe error messages mean that Battle Realms was either unable to locate this file on startup, or the file is corrupt, resulting in a prematurely-aborted startup process. Generally, Battle Realms will be unable to start without resolving these errors.
Finding the source of the instmsiw.exe error is key to properly resolving these errors. Although most of these EXE errors affecting instmsiw.exe will happen during startup, occasionally you will encounter a runtime error while using Windows Installer - Unicode. This can occur due to poor programming on behalf of Microsoft Corporation, conflicts with other software or 3rd-party plug-ins, or caused by damaged and outdated hardware. Also, these types of instmsiw.exe errors can occur if it has been accidentally moved, deleted, or corrupted by a malware infection. Thus, it's critical to make sure your anti-virus is kept up-to-date and scanning regularly.

An incorrectly installed EXE file may create system instability and could cause your program or operating system to stop functioning altogether. Proceed with caution.

Using the "System Restore" function, you can choose to restore Windows to a date when the instmsiw.exe file was not damaged. Restoring Windows to an earlier date cancels changes that were made to system files since that date. Please follow the steps below to roll back Windows using System Restore and get rid of the instmsiw.exe error.
To get to the embedded files, open up %temp% in Windows Explorer (you may want to clean up it to make things easy), then execute the view agent install .exe file. The .exe will place a .msi, 8 .cabs, and instmsiw.exe into a folder in your temp directory. You can either extract the contents of the SVIAgent.cab and put them in your administrative install point, or just take these files, and put them in your network location (remove the admin install point files) and you should be good to go.
> I have been consulting on this issue witha microsoft windows support'professional' since july 12th! They tell me to reply to them with any concerns and it takes about 36 hrs to get a response..........I was told to download 'windows cleanup uitility' which i did......I removed (supposedly) all .Net Framework software i.e 1.1 AND 2.0 & reinstalled the 2.0 Redistributable Package as instructed..........in the windows cleanup utility it shows just the 2.0 however, in my "Add & Remove Programs" it shows the 1.1 .Net Framework plus 1.1 Hotfix (KB886903) & will not let me remove them for various reasons (but, there are no MB's showing) while the 2.0 shows 88.69 MB's ..........I have no idea what this is telling me, I have asked the so-called 'professional' and don't get an answer to my direct question!Bottom line is the 'Icon' is still on my screen asking me to install the Security Update & I can't do it nor can I get rid of the 'Icon'.........ny Windows One Care status when I first turn it on shows only 'fair' because I haven't done the update & then changes to 'good' after I've clicked on a couple of screens..........it would seem to me the problem is I do not have 1.1 but rather 2.0 & was asked to install an update for the wrong .Net Framework!! Sorry to be so long winded but I'm getting totally frustrated with Microsoft! Any advice, many thanks.........p j> >

Then follow the instructions the installer provides. The installer may ask you to reboot your computer. When done with the installation, you can delete the download file to recover disk space.
Start the system editor. Choose "Start", "Run" and enter sysedit, then click OK. The system editor starts up with several windows showing. Go to the window that is displaying AUTOEXEC.BAT 2ff7e9595c
