It might take a little longer if you're learning, or a lot shorter if you jump into a pit of spikes.Warning: do not jump into a pit of spikes.HELLO! Would it be impolite if I were to nom on your armor and weapons? That shiny metal looks oh so delicious. Oh --pardon me, how rude of me not to introduce myself! I am Glooping Ooze, one of the many extremely polite denizens of the dungeons in this area. I even have my own card:Like all cards in One Deck Dungeon, mine is full of colored boxes, and HEY! What's the idea with all those arrows. Ugh, adventurers. So rude. So very very rude. I suppose you're rolling all your dice, attempting to fill in as many boxes as possible. For every one you don't fill, I'm going to make you pay for this arrow nonsense, in hearts and time! Precious time!If you manage to get past me somehow, you'll be able to take Armor Crush as a skill, or add that magic icon on the left to your stats, or take the three experience lanterns in the upper-right.Despite your arrowful attitude, I welcome you to the world of One Deck Dungeon. The game does still have some graphic glitches, and it's really annoying that you can't undo after selecting a skill or end reward. After 30 hours of play time I feel I've done everything the game has to offer. I'm looking forward to them realeasing more content for the game in the future.. Game is very repetitive. It doesn't have a coop mode even though it states it does. There isn't even a way to reset your game, and all the progress you earn with your characters is permament between sessions.. OK this game is awesome. I have yet to win on 7-8 novice paladin dragon cave runs, but I am getting oh so close. It is RNG based, of course it is it uses dice, but the strategy of using skills to get more dice or converting unneeded dice to black makes this a lot deeper than Yachttzee :) I also like the fact that even when you lose, the game gives you basically encounter points which you can put towards upgrades for the class(s) you just played. It evens the playing field over time if you can just get over the initial spirit crushing run of losses when you first start the game.Well worth approx $10 US. Can't wait to see what expansions come out for it.9 / 10.. Combination of Elder Sign + Pathfinder.+ Instructions and tips+ Replay value due to improving characters and random encounters+ Fun - Kinda hard- 99 cent DLCs moving forward. Board game, it's more a dices game than a cards game which is fine for me. It you've played, and enjoyed, Tharsis (definitively a really good game for me, defintively not for you if RNG makes you cry), you will probably like One Deck Dungeon: same concept, you roll dices then you choose how to use them, which is the core concept of Tharsis. One Deck Dungeon is more than that as it contains rpg features: skills, items, potions and, of course, characters experience which means also grind phase to level up the characters ...the grind phase could be boring, not a lot of playtime at the moment, I don't think it's ok to move to another dungeons before you get some advanced skills, you can play one or two characters during a run so it you want to level up all classes it will take time...The UI is not "perfect", sometime I'm questionning myself about the dev who has coded a game: have you really played it as regular user before releasing it ? or just in "debug mode", you know what I mean (I'm dev in real life): the cool mode where you disable or bypass ennoying stuffs but cool...erm... for the "others". In fact, you know what: it's boring for them too, but it has been implemented so let's keep them ! Some of the people will probably like those "features".Ok there are some effects player can disable (guess what: it will be done very quickly) but it's not enough for me, it could be really better. Ok it's an "indie game", but I feel this tag becomes more and more a tag meaning: unpolished or sometime "unfinished game" (not in this case)Anyway, I like the game, I recommend it to people who likes to run dices...and see dices rolling :)If you like Tharsis, Pathfinder adventures.... you should consider to buy and play One Deck Dungeon.. I only know Handelabra for their ports of card/board games. You can find plenty of reviews of the physical version of One Deck Dungeon that are much better than I could write. I will say that I've played several adventures with it and even on novice it's *way* harder than I expected.Full disclosure: I participated in the Kickstarter for this game, and received my Steam Key via that campaign. The implementation of this game isn't as good as Sentinels of the Multiverse, which is the only other game I've played from them. Sentinels is impeccably implemented, but One Deck Dungeon has a lot of rough edges. The good news is that I think these will be fairly easy to smooth out and this is a new release so I'm hopeful that we'll see something addressing them soon. I'll update my review as I see things addressed. Here are my gripes with the current version:1. Maxes out my CPU and GPU (quad-core i7, GTX 1070) even when sitting idle. Definitely needs some optimization here. This is the kind of game I'd love to play for hours on the lowest power mode of my laptop but right now it just burns the battery down.2. The tutorial is a little light and not great about pointing out what various sections of the game are.3. The documentation is also a little lacking. I still don't know what the "General Pool" is, even after reading about it. I also screwed up spending some of my progression points because I wasn't clear about what the check marks meant.4. Interactions with the dice seem like they might work alright on a touch screen, but with the mouse it's really tedious to drag all the dice around.5. There doesn't seem to be a way to "swap" a die once it's on a square. Since this game is kind of about optimizing how you spend your roll, sometimes you have to iterate a bit to figure it out. On most blocks it's no big deal. Remove the old one, add the new one. But on the armor blocks it's much harder. You can't swap in the one you want without undoing other stuff you're already sure won't change.I am a little disappointed this doesn't have controller support, but I'm sure it would take a lot of UI work to get support for a game with so many fiddly bits so I won't fault Handelabra too hard for that. All that said, I do think it's a faithful and fun implementation of a game that has an amazing amount of depth for the simple mechanics. Overall, I would still recommend it. Just know that it's still in need of a little polish.. Excellent digital version of the actual card game, plays the exact same which it should be applauded for,However it has some of the worst in-game music I've heard sadly, and therefore although I recommend you still play it, you should probably turn off the music and play your own soundtrack instead. As a suggestion, the soundtrack to BATTLETECH works nicely :D.Enjoy! Aeon’s End & One Deck Dungeon Crossover!: Our next game, Aeon’s End, is live on Kickstarter now, and it comes with a surprise for One Deck Dungeon fans!Aeon's End is a cooperative deck-building game where you struggle to defend the city of Gravehold from The Nameless and their hordes using unique abilities, powerful spells, and, most importantly of all, your wits. We are excited to be working with designer Kevin Riley from Action Phase Games, as well as Indie Boards and Cards to bring Aeon’s End to Steam. We are happy to announce that one of the first stretch goals on this new campaign is a crossover event between the worlds of Aeon’s End and One Deck Dungeon. If we can reach the goal, Xae, your favorite dungeon crawling mage will head to Gravehold to battle the Nameless. At the same time, Mist will join One Deck Dungeon as a new, FREE, playable hero!Mist is a breach mage in the city of Gravehold, the last refuge of humanity. In her search for the domain of the Nameless nemeses that embattle the last human city, she has opened a breach to a strange world known as Mynerva. By doing so however, Xae has appeared in Gravehold in her place! We think you'll find a lot to love in the variety and depth of Aeon’s End Visit the campaign to try the 5-10 minute playable demo and see for yourself.
